ITVBe Listings

Hello guys, welcome back to part 5 of this series and don't worry this will be the last part of the tv listings I will post. 




For this part I will be writing about ITVBe and what I think about their tv listings.

ITVBe have described their channel as:

ITVBe is the newest ITV channel to the family and our first free-to-air channel launch in over a decade. Featuring real lives and real people, ITVBe is home to the very best lifestyle and reality programming that the UK and US have to offer. 

Aimed at 16-34 year old women, in particular millennial mums, the channel appeals to a dynamic and modern audience who are attracted to the aspirational content and trending talent.

Our viewers love to talk about ITVBe’s programmes hence the channel is a pioneer in building a seamless online social community, through social media platforms. The captivating shows play a huge part in conversations across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, actively contributing in shaping culture for young women today. 

I noticed that this channel said that tries to appeal to millennial mums, and millennials are the target audience with whom I have to base my coursework around, so already I am looking towards the listings on this how for guidance.

I noticed that ITVBe is very much similar to ITV2 in terms of genre that they show on their channels. They both show quite a number of reality TV however, ITVBe is different in the sense that their reality TV is more to do with drama and wealthy people's life rather than following someone find love.

It has been made clear on their website that they only showcase reality TV and though this could be seen as a disadvantage to them as it technically limits them, they do manage to show quite a wide range of shows from typical soap opera types to food shows and such. Although all the programmes seem to have a 'living-good-lifestyle' aspect which is notably preferred by audience members who are aspirers, which also suits the age range they are targeting.

	Buying and Selling	11:20am – 12:15pm	Twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott aim to help couples find fixer-uppers and transform them into dream homes. The brothers use state-of-the-art imagery programs to unveil their plans for how the properties will look after the transformation. But the potential home buyers have to take a risk to make the twins' vision come true, and it's up to Jonathan and Drew to convince the couples that purchasing an older home in need of work is the best option. 	Cake Hunters	9:10am – 9:40am	Each episode, three cake designers compete to earn a job for a client looking for the perfect pastry for a wedding, family reunion or other bash. When a client picks a cake, the designer quickly learns that making the cake is just half of the battle; it then has to make it to its destination, which can be a tall task for an elaborate pastry. Each winning cake must make it to the party on time and in one piece before the designer's job is done.	Factual – Cooking Show	Female 30+ B,C1,C2,

If I was to make my own show for this channel I would probably make something similar to 'TOWIE' because while it's reality TV, everyone truly knows that the scenes are staged so the show can be as dramatic as possible, so it's then similar to a soap opera, just with a lack of deaths.

However I do like the idea of combining TOWIE with a show like Coronation Street, that way it would be more appealing to a younger audience.
